I started learning Italian in college as an Art History major. After a summer in Florence, I became determined to improve my language skills. I studied Italian every semester and attended Middlebury College’s language emersion program. After graduation, I lived in Rome for a year teaching English. Finally, I earned my Master’s Degree in Italian Literature. Teaching Italian as a part of Venice High School’s World Languages and Global Studies Magnet is the perfect job for me! I speak Italian every day and I continue to learn about Italian culture, including the pressing issues of contemporary life. My favorite new part of the program is taking students to the Opera each year. We have studied and seen LA Opera productions of Le nozze di Figaro, Gianni Schicchi and Pagliacci.
