Mr. Bruno

I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and lived there until I moved to Los Angeles at the age of 19.  I attended the University of Pittsburgh, CSU Dominguez Hills and UCLA.  I have had two jobs my entire adult life.  For 7 years, I was a child care worker.  I was a houseparent in a group home for a non-profit agency where I was one half of a duo that cared for six children, aged 4 to 13.  This job helped put me through school.  My other job has been teaching!

I am beginning my 25th year in LAUSD and my 15th year at Venice High School.  I have always been involved in Venice during my time at the school.  I have served on SBM for four years, have been the Yearbook Advisor for 10 years, the Cheerleading Coach for 2 years, the Math Department Chairperson for 7 years, the Senior Sponsor for one year and the sponsor of many clubs and activities over the years.  The last few years I have concentrated on academics and have coordinated the DARTS program during that time.  During my 15 years at Venice, I have taught every math course that the school has offered.  I am currently teaching Algebra 1, AP Calculus and AP Statistics.  I am very proud of the growth of the AP Statistics program.

Venice is my third school that I have taught at, and I believe that it will be my last.   I love teaching at Venice and have developed a great relationship with my students, the parents, the staff and the community over the years.

In my personal life, I love competitive card playing.  My game of choice is The Game of Thrones.  I have been the World Champion twice for the game and have designed two cards that have my likeness on the card.  I am also a huge sports, TV and movie fan!
