Ruth Greene

National Board & California State Certified English Language Arts Teacher + State Certified in Art - Media, Arts, & Technology Academy

My name is Ms. Ruth Greene, and I have taught English for 24 years. I was at Crenshaw High School for seven years, and have been at Venice High for the last seventeen. I also hold a supplemental California Art Credential.

I am dedicated to keeping VHS an excellent school.  In addition to my teaching duties, I am the Media, Arts and Technology Academy Lead Teacher, the School for Advanced Studies and Gifted and Talented Education Coordinator, and the English Department Chair.

I incorporate art and media into my English Language Arts classroom so I collaborate with museum educators at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

As a fellow of the Fund for Teachers, I attended a workshop on how to use digital cameras in the classroom. This opportunity enabled me to further engender enthusiasm in my English classroom as my students use digital devices to enhance their understanding of English Language Arts.

I am currently working on my thesis to earn my Masters in English at UC Irvine which is having a positive impact on my teaching practice.

At the close of the second semester, I joined other AP English teachers from around the country for a second year of College Board AP reading/scoring in Kansas City.
