Janet Morgan

A little about me-

Mrs. Morgan was born and educated in Pittsburgh, PA, then attended college in St. Louis, earning her AB in Urban & Regional Studies at Washington University, in St. Louis. She moved to San Francisco in 1979, married in 1985, and began working with her husband in his fashion eye-wear company.  She has two adult children, a daughter, Rachel, and a son, Max.  Prior to becoming an educator, she had careers in fashion merchandising and sales, and as an editor for a social planning calendar, Los Angeles Masterplanner.

Mrs. Morgan became a teacher for two primary reasons.  As a parent, she wasn't in agreement with the educational experience that had been provided for her son.  She figured she could complain, or become part of the process to change the way things were done.  Then, as a business owner, she would interview candidates for entry level positions, noticing that too many of them were unable to write a proper sentence, and couldn't accurately solve mathematical problems with a calculator.

As she goes into her 16th year as a teacher, she has changed as a person and an educator, as a result of her experiences.  Teaching is both the most challenging and most rewarding job she have had. She is a self-professed professional development and tech geek, attending many conferences and trainings, because she loves to learn.
