Joana Trocan-Garrett

School Psychologist and Spirit Program Advisor

I have been working for LAUSD as a School Psychologist for the past 10 years and became a part of the Venice High School family in the Fall of 2008.  I work full time as the School Psychologist and my office is located in Room 219, which is next door to the Special Education office.

I provide crisis counseling and ongoing individual counseling to students, conduct psycho-educational  assessments, participate in Student Success Team (SST) meetings, 504 Plan meetings and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team meetings, collaborate with teachers and staff to support students at risk, conduct Suicide Risk and Threat assessments, work closely with families and am a member of the COST team.  During the summer I work with the Preschool Department and conduct Initial intake assessments for preschoolers with Special Needs.

I have also been the Spirit Program Advisor at Venice High School since 2010.  The Spirit Program includes the Varsity Cheerleading Team, Varsity Dance Team and Spirit Team.
