Welcome! I am excited to be your new World Languages and Global Studies Magnet Counselor. My focus is the Academic, Social-Emotional, College, and Career success of all my students.

I have worked in public schools for more than 12 years, both in traditional and charter school settings. I am a graduate of UC Santa Barbara, Loyola Marymount University, AND Venice High School (a LONG time ago- please don't ask what year!), and I am thrilled to be back home at VHS.

How Do I See My Counselor?

  • Students: Please fill out a BLUE "Request to See Counselor" Form, and leave in my mailbox in the Magnet Office. Stop by my office during Nutrition and Lunch with any concerns you may be having, questions you want to ask, or exciting news you want to share! If you see me around campus, say Hi! If you come during a class period, please make sure you have a signed pass from your teacher.
  • Parents: Please make an appointment ahead of time with me- via email, phone call, or in-person via filling out an ORANGE "Parent Appointment Request" Form, and leave in my mailbox in the Magnet Office.

I am here to support student success, work with parents as partners in education, and educate students to be strong, respectful advocates for themselves. Together as a VHS WLGS team, we will work together to ensure that students enjoy their high school experience, and feel as safe and supported as can be.

A little about me, I am a VENICE native, born and raised. I am bilingual and biliterate in Spanish. My parents are from El Salvador, and I have a 2-year old son who keeps me running around! I am truly passionate about education- educational success, educational access, educational equity, global/cultural studies, mental health, self-exploration, self-esteem, and well-being. I also deeply enjoy salsa music and traveling to a turquoise beach somewhere! I invite you to share with me any questions, comments, or concerns that you may have regarding the educational process, or just in general!

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! GO GONDOS!

The World Languages and Global Studies Magnet Counseling Program will provide all students with the tools to succeed academically, socio-emotionally, college, and career-wise within a safe, supportive, and empowering learning environment.
